Mid-Term-Meeting: our second EVS Seminar

Here we are with other pieces of our adventure.

During the EVS time each European volunteer is invited to take part in meetings with other participants, one at the beginning and another in the middle of EVS project. The second Seminar is planned as a moment where everyone can reflect on what happened during his staying in Germany and can think and speak about his future…or at least try to. We exchanged our opinions and feelings. We shared our good and bad stories and we tried to solve problems supporting each others. We spoke about the ways how to stay in Germany when our project is finished, but we also reflected on other topics like immigration, borders and discrimination.

This time Cinzia could get to know better the capital of Germany and Gosia had the opportunity to visit for the first time Weimar.

Cinzia:

“In Berlin I discovered a really fascinating part of the city with single houses, little streets and a lot of trees. In fact, we were not in the city centre, but by the river Havel and I was really surprised to know that in such a big European capital you can also find calm places like this.

Once again I met there interesting people with so many different stories and wishes. I also met there a Latvian friend who I got to know during my first seminar and it was really great to share also this experience together.

I had already been in Berlin, but of course I enjoyed again the possibility to go sightseeing there. This time I was really happy to do it in a new and more adventure way: in a small group of three we rented bikes and we cycled through different parks and green areas in the city, discovering a new face of Berlin.”

Gosia:

“Weimar is a place for Goethe & Schiller’s fanatics. Maybe I am not a fanatic but for sure I enjoy reading their books. I was happy to get the feeling of the place where that persons are some how still „alive” – in each corner of the city you can find their sculptures or memorials.

I spend 6 days in the beautiful surroundings of Goethe park, the castle and wonderful architecture. In this small town during the end of Summer we had nice walks and very interesting and a little bit crazy „city game” arranged by us – participants.

Besides having a normal seminar program, we could offer our topics and did a lot of team building games, outside too, which gave us opportunity to feel like kids and to have kind of holidays.

We had city tour but after one hour we were well oriented and we got a lot of interesting knowledge. Unfortunately we did not have time to visit any museum but we could choose one trip outside Weimar. I went to Erfurt, a beautiful city which was not destroyed during II World War, that is why original architecture stayed magnificent and overwhelming.”

For both of us this seminar was another good opportunity to know better Germany and enjoy our time here!
