Magda´s and Asya`s talk in english…

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): It’s already a little time after the Let’s Sail Together project… What are Your memories? How was it, to work on the ship?

Asya Yavuz: First thing I remember is the night, that was like from Pirates of Caribbean, this big storm. It was my best night at the project, I was so afraid but it was also beautiful. I also remember St. Malo, the harbour there and the beautiful beach. Work on the ship was hard, especially pulling the ropes while we were seasick, it was hard but not bad.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): How did the typical day on a ship look like?

Asya Yavuz: We woke up together with Dilan, but she was always late, it was typical for us to be late ;).

Then we had watches and diverse work. After the night watches we were drinking tea and ate donuts, which we bought in France. I remember it was very cold for me.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): Can You imagine to live and work on the ship permanently?

Asya Yavuz: Actually after participating in this project I can imagine it, I think I could do that. It would be great to do something like this instead of learning in a collage, but it’s impossible for me right now. I wish I could be like Aafke, she’s fantastic !!

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): Did You have some kind of stereotypes about the other nations before?

Asya Yavuz: No, I didn’t have any stereotypes before.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): Did the stereotypes confirm?

Asya Yavuz: As I said, I didn’t have Any stereotypes before. But I noticed, that the Polish people are very similar to Turkish people. I really love them!

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): There were about 40 people on board. Did You understand good as a group or were there some problems between You?

Asya Yavuz: I had some problems with the group. Actually I can’t call it “a problem”,  but I wasn’t that happy with them. Sometimes I couldn’t talk with them, there were some people I wanted to talk with but I couldn’t communicate.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): What were Your ideas about the project before it began? Did You have any expectations about it?

Asya Yavuz: No. I didn’t have any expectations. I also didn’t get enough informations from the Turkish. I was searching articles about sailing in Internet, but as I said, I didn’t have accurate expectations.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): What did You do during the free time?

Asya Yavuz: Mostly I were sleeping, the other were mostly playing cards or just sitting and talking.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): Did your ideas about Europe change after the trip?

Asya Yavuz: Before the trip I wanted to go to London, and France was for me also beautiful. I also didn’t have any problems with being Turkish, the same with Visa. So the ideas didn’t change, it was quite ok.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): Where did You know about the trip from?

Asya Yavuz: I found it in the Internet.  I was just searching for a trip for me and I found it on the site of the turkish organisation.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): Is it not boring, to spend the whole week on the ship?

Asya Yavuz: No. It was good, I really would like to do it one more time. There were enough work,  but  to be honest, I think I didn’t work as much as the others.

Magdalena Gasiorowicz (NIG): How do You think: is it easy to live on the ship?

Asya Yavuz: I think it’s not easy but if I had a chance, I would do this. I won’t need Facebook, Internet and the other technical things to survive. It could be really unforgettable experience.
