Logbook: Let’s sail together 2018

Take 29 guys, from 4 different countries (Germany, Italy, France, Turkey, Poland) and make them live all together for 10 days in a place in the middle of nowhere, while talking about cradle 2 cradle, environmental issues and maritime conservation.

All of this just to make them ready to perform as a team and to live one of the best experience of their life: sailing (for real, as trainee sailors) in the Baltic Sea!

Working with shifts 24/7, living with other 33 people on the boat (29 participants plus 5 crew members), not having personal space, not being possible to shower for days (showers were allowed only when stopping at the harbors), not having an unlimited access to electricity or food, is a challenge, one hell of a challenge, I would say.

But what you achieve during those 9 days sailing, well it’s much more. You end up learning what’s like to perform as a team and sometimes you need to step up and guide your group being leader. You are hungry, and sleepy, and tired all the times, but that’s just because you are not only working, you also want to swim in the Baltic Sea jumping from a rope, or climb up to the main sail, or sunbathe. And of course, being in the middle of the sea, surrounded by water everywhere, you will see some of the most amazing sunrise and sunsets of your life.

You will sail with the sun and the rain, with hot and cold weather, with wind and with no wind, with a flat sea and with waves, with sea sickness, and at some point, you will end up having land sickness.

It will be hard, because it is tiring, believe me. But it will also be an amazing experience that will stay with you forever.
