Gosia’s EVS Abschluss!

Now is time for me to say „Goodbye” to all that wonderful people I got to know in Rostock.

Goodbye Rostock, Warnemünde and the metaphysical Baltic Sea!

When I think about what happened during this 11 months, it is quite overwhelming.
Not only being a volunteer and part of Kompass were new for me, but also, in general, living in Germany. The main challenge for me was to learn German language. Somehow it is successful that I can now communicate in the language of Goethe and Schiller (or maybe, better to say, more modern and informal language with not always correct grammar).
After a few months I could even book a bus for our project (surprisingly in tourist office in Kiel no one speaks English). Maybe it does not seem so impressive but for me it was a big achievement:)

The EVS project was a great opportunity for me to get to know better Germany. I have visited many amazing cities with beautiful architecture and interesting modern museums. I was moved by theatre performances and music concerts I have seen. It was meaningful time, especially when I could share it with so many great people whom I got to know here. Both directly and indirectly, all of that helped me in my personal development and was needed to consider myself, my ideas for future and my goals. I understood my wishes and now I know in which direction I want to go.

In the end even some boring or not exciting moments at work in the office were somehow valuable. Before I did not see it clearly but now I know that I have learned a lot on various fields.

Now I can say that Rostock is the next place in the world where I feel good among precious people and unique ambience. Of course I did not feel that way everyday, it is something that you see after time, especially when you have to look back because you are heading for the future and you need to describe yourself.

Finally, even after hard moments here, I am thankful to everyone whom I met for all small and big discovers, different situations and perspectives.

Gosia
